Chicken invaders 2 download softonic11/5/2022 I feel that all the good will, all the things that they created, the Kumbaya from last year - all of that is gone already. The other place where I'm stumped: If you didn't go over the Mid-Level - you've now replaced Artest with Ariza, you didn't have to go over the Mid-Level, that was the big fear, that they were going to have to go over the Mid-Level to pay Ariza - when they didn't go over the Mid-Level and signed Artest instead, that was supposed to make keeping Lamar easier.īUCHER: Now when you're talking about losing him, too, THAT'S where it just becomes ridiculous. It's almost like "We WANT to get rid of you," by the way they're negotiating.īUCHER: That's the part, the way the Lakers have done things here, that I do not understand. From an emotional standpoint, I don't know that they're the greatest guys to take this hard line with. Trevor Ariza and Lamar Odom, whatever the criticism may be of Odom - they're GOOD GUYS. But you just had a group that won a Championship and avenged a huge disappointment a year ago.īUCHER. Buss over the last couple years has demonstrated that he watches the bottom line a little more closely than we remember him in the past. I just think the really interesting part for me - and I don't really have a definitive answer as to why - is that the Lakers who, ummm. And then he finally blooms in the playoffs, and he plays fantastic - and they just got rid of him! It's bizarre.īUCHER: Here's the thing, I mean, the way his agent handled it - totally understandable.īUCHER: And you've got to keep in mind that it's Andrew Bynum's agent and there was already some bad feeling there, and so. I know he wasn't there for 4 years, but this was somebody that everybody in California really liked, that they were attached to, that they were touting his virtues the last couple years. SIMMONS: But I mean the other part that nobody mentions about the Ariza thing is that he went to UCLA. I mean, if you buy that theory, Artest makes a little bit more sense. STEIN (I think): Well, there is that school of thought that Phil needs this kind of challenge to stay plugged in. I don't think the Laker fans - I'm surprised that they're so willing to say, "We're fine with Artest." It's almost like they didn't really appreciate what Ariza did. SIMMONS: I think if they had gotten him I would probably pick them to win the Finals, instead they had to go the hodge-podge route. I'm not saying he's Robert Horry, but do you know what I mean? That glue guy that just does stuff.īUCHER: I think Cleveland agrees with you, I think they were trying to give him the same deal.īUCHER: I think Cleveland agrees with you. I just thought he grew into, like, a Robert Horry-type guy. I thought was their toughest player other than Kobe, like fighting for loose balls and stuff. He's 23, he's getting better, he did it in the playoffs, this guy that came through time and time again. I'm not saying he was the BEST, but I'm sayng that going into July I thought "Here's the guy, if I was going to spend $33 Million on somebody, this is the guy I'd want. SIMMONS: This may sound crazy but I thought Ariza was like the number one free agent this year. They go: "We had him on a 1-year deal - and we could barely keep him in." (laughs)īUCHER: (still laughing) He's now got FIVE years and he knows this may be his last contract - AND he's in LA. īUCHER: That's the thing that the Rockets are laughing about. All I'm saying is that IF Odom comes back you can see the reasons the Lakers want Artest, but NOT on a 5-year deal. If he's not there to guard Hedo Turkoglu, I think all the matchups change. PART 2, Starting at the 39:30 mark or so, where Bucher accuses Simmons of "underselling what Ariza did."īUCHER: During that playoff run he was a HUGE part of what they did, particularly defensively. It certainly made me re-think the way this post-season has gone, in any event.īear in mind that Simmons is a huge partisan of Trevor Ariza, who at age 23 is still on the upswing of his career and came up big in the playoffs, only to be shown the door on the quick during free agency. In case you're interested, here are the links:Īnyway, near the very end of the 90 minute extravaganza, Bill dropped a really fascinating little bombshell, which I will transcribe here in the hope that it spurs some discussion. Really fascinating conversation start to finish between Bill and his guests, journalists Marc Stein and Rick Bucher. I was really absorbed listening to the July 29th edition of the Bill Simmons report, an podcast. |
